El Pinar de Bedar

El Pinar de Bedar is located 15 minutes from the coastal resort of Mojacar, close to the A7 motorway and just 15 minutes from the proposed high speed rail link in Vera.

El Pinar was originally a working mining village, but once the mineral reserves depleted the village was abandoned until the land was bought by an American property developer in the 1970s. In 1980 the first inhabitants, friends of Elegant Homes Online S.L., moved into the village and set up a bar, still operating today as “Bar El Pinar”. Over the next 20 years the village developed further with the reformation of old mining buildings and construction of new villas.

With funding from the Junta de Andalucia, the Diputacion de Almeria, the town hall of Bedar and private developers, the village has benefited from the introduction of new services, including a new palm tree-lined access road. In addition, private developers have obtained the necessary legal permissions to develop new residential areas, sports facilities and a commercial centre, with a number of small shops, a second bar and a supermarket planned.
